AI Chatbot Development: An Assistant That Answers From Your Content
A chatbot is judged by the question it gets wrong. AI chatbot development at GBCORP starts from that: the assistant answers only from the business's own content, shows where the answer came from, and hands over the moment it is unsure.

AI chatbot development produces an assistant that answers customers’ questions from the business’s own content, in the customer’s language, on the channels the business uses, and hands over to a person when the content does not cover the question. GBCORP builds assistants behind an interface, with a review screen and an evaluation set, and prices them as a release; the assistant runs inside the business’s own project, and its answers cite the document they came from.
What a chatbot does, and where
| Job | What it does | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Answer questions | From approved content: policies, catalogue, FAQs, documents; cites the source | App, web, WhatsApp, messaging inboxes |
| Guide a task | Finds the right service, lists what is needed, drafts the request | App and web |
| Capture a lead or a booking | Collects the details and creates the record in the console | All channels |
| Hand over | Passes the conversation to a person with the history attached | Console |
| Learn what is missing | Logs unanswered questions as the list of content to write | Console report |
From your content, with the source shown
The assistant does not answer from general knowledge. Content the business approves is indexed in its own project; the assistant retrieves the relevant passages and answers from them, showing the document and the date it was last updated. A question the content does not cover gets an honest “I do not have that” and a hand-over, never an invented price or rule.
The review screen and the evaluation set
At first, staff review answers before or after they are sent, depending on risk. The reviewed answers become the evaluation set, and accuracy is measured weekly against it. Review is removed for question types where answers hold, and kept where a wrong answer costs money or trust. The unanswered-questions report tells the business which document to write next.
Channels
The same assistant serves the app, the website, WhatsApp through the business’s own account, and messaging inboxes, with one content base and one console. A conversation started on the website continues in the app. Per-message channel fees are the business’s, at the channel’s rates.
Checklist before building a chatbot
- The fifty questions customers ask most, with the correct answers.
- The content that answers them, approved and dated.
- Which question types need review before sending.
- Channels to launch on, and the accounts in the business’s name.
- Who receives hand-overs, and in what hours.
- The number to move: tickets deflected, response time, or leads captured.
The numbers to expect
Scoping in one week. A first assistant live with its review screen in three to six weeks at a fixed price. Accuracy measured weekly; review removed on safe question types within a quarter. Model usage at cost, typically a few fils per conversation; a support plan at a known monthly figure. Customised or more complex functionality is quoted separately before any work starts.
A worked example
A utility-services company received the same forty questions by phone and e-mail every day: hours, documents, fees, how to book. The scoping week collected the questions and the approved answers. The assistant went live on the website and WhatsApp in four weeks with staff reviewing answers in the first fortnight. By week six, review was removed for hours and documents and kept for fees, where a wrong figure costs trust. Phone volume fell for the routine questions, staff handled the exceptions, and the unanswered-questions report produced three new help pages a month.
What a chatbot must never do
Invent a price, a rule or a date. Pretend to be a person. Answer a medical, legal or financial question beyond the approved content. Take an action that moves money without a person approving. Keep a customer in a loop when it cannot help. GBCORP builds each of these as a hard rule, not a preference, and the evaluation set tests them every week.
Tone, language and the brand
The assistant speaks in the business’s tone, set in the console, and in the customer’s language. It introduces itself as an assistant. It says when it is unsure. It cites the document it answered from. A chatbot that is honest about its limits is trusted more than one that sounds confident, and trust is what deflects the ticket.
Adding the assistant to an existing app
The assistant is a service behind an interface; an existing app or website calls it with a request and receives an answer with a source and a confidence. It is added as a release beside the current software, with the same review screen and measurement, whether or not GBCORP built the app.
Costs that are visible
Model usage is metered per conversation and reported weekly beside accuracy and hand-over rate. Retrieval from the business’s own content keeps prompts short; smaller models are used where the evaluation set shows they suffice. A monthly cap is set, and when it is reached the assistant hands every conversation to a person rather than stopping.
Ownership of the assistant
The service, prompts, content index, evaluation set and conversation logs live in the business’s own cloud project and are the business’s. Channel accounts and the model provider account are in its name. On custom work the code is delivered. No credentials are retained after a hand-over unless a support contract requires them.
Questions we hear first
Will it make things up?
It answers only from approved content and says so when the content is silent; the evaluation set measures exactly this every week.
Does it work in more than one language?
Yes. It answers in the customer’s language from content written in one.
Can it take payments or bookings?
It collects the details and creates the record; payment and booking run through the app’s own flows on the business’s gateway.
Who owns the conversations?
The business, in its own cloud project, retained for the period it sets and exportable.
