White Label Software Development: Beyond Apps, the Whole Platform

Published May 1, 2024 · 6 min read

White label software development is wider than apps: consoles, portals, web platforms and whole SaaS products delivered under a client's brand, run on a multi-tenant core. This is how GBCORP does it and who it is for.

White Label Software Development: Beyond Apps, the Whole Platform

White label software development produces software a business sells or operates as its own without building it: a customer portal, an operations console, a booking platform, a loyalty system, a marketplace, an education or healthcare platform, or a SaaS product resold to its own customers. GBCORP delivers all of these from one multi-tenant core under the client’s brand, within days as configurations or in weeks with custom releases, with each client in its own project and every account in its own name.

The multi-tenant core

Tenancy, sign-in, roles, billing, notifications, consoles, reporting, multilingual layouts and store compliance are built once and maintained once. A white label deployment is a configuration of that core with the client’s brand, rules, markets and features switched on. Custom releases are added on extension points and retested with every core update, so a client’s exclusive work never falls behind.

Resellers and agencies

An agency or a distributor resells the range under its own brand at a partner rate, configures its clients from a partner console, sets its own prices and keeps the relationship. A software company adds a product line without engineers. GBCORP stays invisible to the end customer, and custom work for a reseller’s client is quoted to the reseller.

Isolation and ownership

Each client, and each of a reseller’s clients, lives in its own cloud project with data isolated at the database rules, its own store listings and its own payment gateway. Brand, data and accounts are the client’s; custom releases are the client’s; on a one-time build the code is delivered. No commission on sales, no credentials retained after a hand-over unless a support contract requires them.

Checklist before choosing white label software

  • What will carry your brand: an app, a platform, a product you resell.
  • Whose name is on the store, payment and cloud accounts.
  • Whether the plan is flat or takes a share of revenue.
  • How custom work is added and who owns it.
  • How your customers’ data is isolated and exported.
  • What you keep on exit.

The numbers to expect

A configured platform live within one to five working days on the web, store listings after review, a flat monthly plan. Custom releases in two weeks each at a fixed price. Reseller arrangements at a partner rate with a partner console. Customised or more complex functionality is quoted separately before any work starts.

A worked example

A business-services firm with two hundred SME clients wanted to offer each a customer portal and a loyalty programme under its own brand, without a development team. On the reseller route, the firm configures each client from a partner console, sets its own prices above the partner rate, and keeps the relationship; each client’s data sits in its own project. Forty clients were live in the first quarter. The firm added a product line; its clients got software; GBCORP stayed invisible to both.

Security questionnaires, answered from the design

Enterprise buyers of white label software ask where data lives, who can see it, whether it is encrypted, whether there is an audit log, whether they can export, and whether single sign-on exists. The core answers each from its design: isolation at the database, encryption in transit and at rest, audit logs per action, export per tenant, single sign-on as a plan feature. A reseller closes larger clients with those answers in hand.

Pricing models for resellers

A flat partner rate per client deployment, with the reseller setting its own price. Volume tiers as the reseller grows. Custom releases for a reseller’s client quoted to the reseller. No revenue share, so the reseller’s margin is its own. The partner console shows every client’s plan, usage and invoices in one place.

Compliance and store rules for resold software

Store rules, privacy labels, account deletion, content moderation and payment rules are handled once in the core and shipped to every deployment, including a reseller’s clients. A reseller never has to learn the rules; its clients’ apps stay live through every change.

Multi-market from the core

Languages, currency, tax and payment provider per market, with right-to-left layouts as a setting. A reseller in two countries configures each client to its market. Store listings are localised under each client’s name.

Ownership terms

Brand, data and accounts are the client’s, and for a reseller, its clients’. Store and payment accounts are in the client’s name. Custom releases are the client’s. Data is exportable per tenant. No revenue share, and no credentials retained after a hand-over unless a support contract requires them.

Questions we hear first

Can we resell your software as ours?

Yes. The agency route provides a partner console, partner pricing and your brand on every client deployment.

Is white label software the same as SaaS?

White label is how it is branded; SaaS is how it is sold. GBCORP’s core does both: your brand, your plans, your tenants.

Can we have features nobody else has?

Yes, as priced releases on extension points; they are yours and are retested with every core update.

What happens if we leave?

Data exported, accounts already yours, custom releases yours; on a one-time build, the code as well.
