Ready Made Software Platform: The Back Office Comes Included

Published June 1, 2024 · 6 min read

A ready made software platform is not only the screens a customer sees. The value is behind them: the console, the roles, the payments, the reports. That back office is what a business would otherwise spend months building.

Ready Made Software Platform: The Back Office Comes Included

A ready made software platform is a working system, front and back, that a business configures rather than commissions. The customer app and website are the visible part. Behind them sit the parts that take longest to build and are hardest to get right: an operator console, staff roles and permissions, payments to the business’s own gateway, notifications, reporting, data export and store compliance. GBCORP’s platform includes all of them, so a business brings its brand, its catalogue or services and its rules, and the platform is live within days.

Configured, not coded

Most of what a business thinks of as custom is configuration on a mature platform: delivery zones, opening hours, menus, service durations, loyalty rules, tax settings, languages, staff roles. Changing them takes minutes in the console and no release. Coding starts only where the business does something the platform has never seen, and that is scoped and priced before anyone writes a line.

When ready made stops fitting

When the business’s core process is its competitive edge and no configuration expresses it. When a regulator requires a workflow the platform does not have. When volumes reach a scale where a dedicated design pays back. GBCORP says so in the first conversation, and the custom route uses the same engine, so the move is an extension, not a rebuild.

Checklist before choosing a ready made platform

  • List the five things your staff do every day, and see each one in the console.
  • Check that payments settle to your own gateway account, with no commission.
  • Ask what is configured and what would be a release.
  • Confirm that data export is complete and available at any time.
  • Read who maintains store compliance and updates.
  • Ask what the route to custom work looks like if you outgrow it.

The numbers to expect

A configured platform live within one to five working days on the web, store listings after review, at a flat monthly plan. Extensions as releases of two to six weeks each at a fixed price. Customised or more complex functionality is quoted separately before any work starts.

A worked example

Consider a laundry and dry-cleaning business with four branches and a pick-up van. It needs customers to book collections, staff to track garments, drivers to see their route and the owner to see revenue per branch. On a ready made platform, services and prices are entered in the console, collection slots are set per area, branch staff get their own role, the driver sees the day’s collections in the staff app, and payments settle to the business’s own account. Nothing is coded. The one custom need, a tag printer at each branch, is quoted as a small release.

The back office in daily use

The console is where a ready made platform proves itself. Staff search an order by phone number, refund a line, change a delivery slot and message the customer from one screen. Managers adjust prices before a promotion and see the effect the next morning. The owner exports the month for the accountant. If those five actions are quick, the platform fits; if any of them needs a workaround, that is the place to scope a release.

Security and updates you do not have to think about

Sign-in, roles, encryption, backups, store rules and security patches are maintained centrally. When a store changes its privacy requirements or a payment network changes its rules, the platform is updated once and every business on it stays compliant. A business that builds alone carries that work forever.

Multilingual and multi-currency

The platform runs in the languages the business serves, with right-to-left layouts as a setting, and in its currency with its taxes. A business with branches in several markets sets language, currency, tax and payment provider per branch.

Growing on the same platform

A business that starts with ordering can add loyalty, a wallet card, delivery drivers, a second brand or a marketplace of partner vendors later, each switched on or added as a release. Customers, data and the app stay the same; nothing is migrated.

Ownership of the data

Customers, orders, bookings and content live in a dedicated data space in the business’s name, exportable at any time in documented formats. Store and payment accounts are the business’s. No commission on sales, and no lock-in beyond the notice period of the plan.

Questions we hear first

Is a ready made platform the same as a template?

No. A template is a look; a platform is a working system with a console, roles, payments and reports behind the look.

Will our platform look like everyone else’s?

The engine is shared; the brand, content, flows you switch on and the domain are yours.

Can we leave?

Yes. Data exports at any time, and accounts in your name stay yours.

Who handles updates?

GBCORP maintains the engine, store compliance and security updates under the plan.
