Business Website Development: Fast, Found and Owned

Published January 30, 2024 · 6 min read

A business website has one job: turn a visitor into an enquiry, an order or a call. Speed, search visibility and ownership are the three things that decide whether it does that job for years.

Business Website Development: Fast, Found and Owned

Business website development at GBCORP produces a site that loads in a second, is found for the searches customers use, is managed by the business from a console, and belongs to the business: domain, hosting, analytics and pages in its name. The site is designed in the browser at real sizes, built as static pages with a console for what changes, and delivered at a fixed price in two to four weeks, with the method GBCORP uses to rank its own site applied to the client’s.

Static pages, and why

A static page is a finished file served from the edge: nothing to compute, nothing to patch, nothing to hack. It loads in a fraction of a second anywhere in the world and costs almost nothing to host. The parts that change, news, products, team and offers, are managed in a console and published as new static pages. The business gets the speed of a brochure and the flexibility of a content system.

Search visibility built in, not bolted on

Every page ships with a title, a description, structured data and a clean address. The sitemap is submitted at launch. Images carry descriptions. A blog on the same domain gives the site the articles that answer customer questions. GBCORP ranks its own site this way and applies the same method to each client site.

Forms that reach a person

An enquiry form checks that the sender is real, delivers the message to a mailbox on the business’s own domain, sends the customer a confirmation from that domain, and records the enquiry in the console with its source. No third-party inbox, no lost leads in a spam folder.

Checklist before requesting a quotation

  • The one action a visitor should take.
  • Pages needed: services, products, team, news, policies.
  • Logo in vector, brand colours, photographs of the real business.
  • Domain and mailbox access.
  • Markets and languages.
  • Whether the site sells or informs.

The numbers to expect

Design approved in the browser in the first week. A business site live in two to four weeks at a fixed price. Content changes in minutes from the console. A shop added in one to three weeks when needed. Customised or more complex functionality is quoted separately before any work starts.

A worked example

An engineering consultancy has a five-year-old site on a content system that is slow, out of date and has been hacked once. GBCORP designs the new site in the browser at real sizes in the first week, builds it as static pages with a console for news and team, writes the search titles and descriptions per page, submits the sitemap, and points the domain in week three. The enquiry form delivers to the consultancy’s own mailbox with a confirmation from its domain. The site scores at the top on every speed test, and the consultancy updates its team page itself.

Multilingual and multi-market

A business serving two markets runs the site in two languages with right-to-left layouts as a setting, each page on its own address with the language markup search engines expect, and contact details per market. Prices, where shown, are per market. One site, two configurations, no duplicate build.

Analytics and consent in the business’s name

Analytics run in the business’s own account. A consent banner the business owns, not a third-party service, asks before anything is measured. The report the business reads monthly shows visits, the pages that lead to enquiries, and the searches that brought people, which is the list of what to write about next.

What the business supplies

Logo in vector, brand colours, the list of services with a paragraph each, photographs of the real business or a date for a shoot, domain access, and a mailbox on the domain. The plan lists each with a date, because a site waits on a missing photograph more often than on a missing developer.

What it costs to run

Static pages cost almost nothing to host and nothing to patch. The domain renews yearly in the business’s name. Analytics run in its own account. The optional support plan is a known monthly figure for changes beyond the console and a quarterly search review. GBCORP lists these in the quotation.

Ownership of the site

Domain, hosting, analytics, the pages and the console are the business’s, in its name. The source is delivered. No credentials are retained by GBCORP after a hand-over unless a support contract requires them.

Questions we hear first

Can we edit the site ourselves?

Yes. News, products, team and offers are managed in the console; structural changes are made by GBCORP under a support plan.

Is a static site good for search?

It is the fastest kind of site there is, and speed is a ranking factor; the search work is in every page.

Do we own the site?

Yes: domain, hosting, analytics and pages, in your name.

Can it grow into a shop or a portal?

Yes. The shop and the customer portal are added on the same foundation.
